The more we neglect cultural preservation, the less flexible our world becomes. When we are ignorant of the importance of cultural protection, our thinking narrows.

​Even though the Garifuna were accepted into Belize, they were discriminated against and fought to keep their heritage. The Garifuna language was discouraged in schools, and their spirituality was condemned by churches. The Garifuna community has now take on the challenge of reviving their culture through music and dance.
